When we set out to create the best alcoholic jelly the world had ever seen (and we humbly think we succeeded) we instinctively knew how important it was that as many people as possible should be able to enjoy our creation - despite whatever their diet restrictions or allergies might be.
So with that in mind, as we set to crafting our recipe we completely ruled out any animal derived ingredients.
As you may already know, the everyday jelly you see in the supermarket is created using gelatin - a substance derived from collagen that's extracted from animal body parts in some pretty unappetizing ways.
We're not going to lie - it was a gruelling challenge creating a perfect replica of jelly but which contained nothing but plant-based gums.
It was always too firm or too floppy, too soft or too brittle, too thick or too thin.
It took over a year of experimentation to get the proportions of gums just right.
But when we did... Oh boy did we celebrate. We honestly couldn't tell our vegan jelly apart from the store bought kind - the one that used the yukky animal gelatin.
We'd created something tasty AND free from animal abuse!
We're really proud of the work we put into making sure our alcoholic jellies are vegan and gluten free - and even prouder that we achieved our goals without comprising on quality or taste.
